Hello students.

We look forward to having you join us for the 2021 winter semester, starting Monday, January 11th.

I want to provide you with an update on the current COVID-19 situation in Ontario that could impact your studies.

Ontario is currently in lockdown in order to reduce the number of new cases of COVID-19. The lockdown is due to end January 9 in Sudbury.  If that is the case, our semester will proceed as usual.

If the lockdown is extended past January 9, it will not impact you if your studies are completely online this semester. However, if you have on-campus labs, and the lockdown is extended, there will be some changes.

According to the rules of the lockdown, on-campus labs must be limited to a maximum of 10 students, except for a limited number of health care programs. For non-health-care labs of more than 10 students, we will divide the class into smaller group sizes and alternate on-campus labs to ensure that we respect the new smaller lab size restrictions.  If the lockdown extends beyond several weeks, we may need to look at scheduling additional lab time over Study Week and even into the end of April.

Your faculty will be sharing with you details of any changes to your lab schedule via your Moodle course sites on January 11, but I will have an update to you on January 10 once we know if the lockdown will be extended.

Once again, these plans are contingent upon the provincial lockdown being extended beyond January 9.

Please check daily your student email and myCambrian. We will also post necessary updates to our special COVID-19 landing page, www.cambriancollege.ca/reopen.

One last reminder: continue to follow all infection-control best practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you are feeling ill, please delay your arrival in Sudbury and on our campus and get tested for COVID-19. Do not come to Sudbury or campus unless you are symptom-free for at least 24 hours.  Learn more about what you can do to protect yourself and others at www.ontario.ca/covid.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to you resuming or starting your education with us.
